We envision our societies as well aware of their respective population ageing, and the challenges involved, whether social, economical or medical. In a world of a rapidly increasing population of older people, our societies should start recognizing older people for what they are, an integral part of society who despite some special needs, can be as productive and beneficial as others, and that old age and dependence/disability are not and should not be synonymous. More important is the realization that any exclusion or isolation is more than ever an intolerable infringement of human rights
